Water is vitally important throughout the world in various respects. This entrusts a major responsibility to companies that play a pivotal role in supplying water. Water companies supply essential drinking water while waste-water purification companies help maintain a liveable environment. There are also (semi-) government organisations in the Netherlands that use pumps to protect parts of the country from flooding.

More and more water-treatment companies are using biogas installations. Biogas is released during the purification process and then used to generate electricity via generator sets powered by gas engines. This produces heat that is then reintroduced into the process in order to speed it up.
